Think Bioscience

Laboratory Relocation Project Abstract

Pivotal Project Management was tasked with planning and executing a laboratory relocation for Think Bioscience. The lab would be moving from the University of Colorado Boulder into a newly-constructed space. With a plethora of commercial grade incubators, compressors, -20/-80 refrigerators, shakers and more, Pivotal sourced, onboarded, and managed multiple vendor parties to successfully crate/stage all items properly for a successful move event.

With all communication funneling through a singular source, Pivotal was able to maintain all building management requirements, conduct competitive vendor sourcing and selection, and circulate a continual master schedule that kept our client informed of all benchmarks. This all resulted in Pivotal reducing the originally planned (2) phase move into a singular event, reducing our client’s downtime and allowing their clinical trial research projects to continue unhindered.

Project Stats

  • Moved three laboratories and office space in a singular move event
  • Provided specialty move equipment to relocate large, delicate items
  • New facility size: 25,250 ft2
  • Employees relocated: 45
  • Eight dry-van round trips of materials in 10-hour span
  • Reduced clients’ overall cost expectations with correct vendor selection and on-site management
  • Continually withed with general contractor to assure the space was ready for our clients before the move event, including the proper electrical needs for specialized lab equipment

Project Summary

Pivotal Project Management provided Laboratory Relocation Consulting and Move Management services to Think Biosciences. Working with their staff to inventory their current space, we developed a move plan to ensure our clients could maintain their workflow through the packing phase before the move event. The move was completed in two 8-hour days, allowing our clients to conduct work on the prioritized equipment moved the previous day.
