Lower 48 Headquarters Relocation Project Abstract
In 2016, BP announced that it would move its US Lower 48 onshore business headquarters from Houston, TX, to Denver, CO, to be closer to substantial assets in the Rocky Mountain region, an important energy hub of the future. To facilitate and prepare for their headquarters transition, BP began developing a staff base in Denver by relocating staff from Houston and hiring local talent while simultaneously developing a new campus at the heart of Lo-Do. While BP’s new office was being completed, their local staff base was housed across two temporary office suites located in downtown Denver. The project required a complete content, IT equipment, and computer workstation relocation from their 38,000 sq. ft. of temporary office space to their new 127,000 sq. ft. campus. Minimizing total downtime during the headquarters relocation was a priority for BP-Lower 48, so rigorous planning and communication were paramount to the success.

Project Summary
Pivotal Project Management provided Relocation Consulting and Move Management services to The Keystone Group. Working with their staff to identify existing inventory levels and develop sales forecasts, we created a move plan to transition their distribution center to a new warehouse without impeding their shipping and receiving abilities. The warehouse and office moves were completed in three phases over a four-week period. By pre-planning and sequencing their inventory item for relocation and providing on-site move management services, we created a significant savings for The Keystone Group compared to their original mover quote.
